Only use genuine LEMKEN spare-parts. Spurious parts negatively influence the function of the implement, show a shorter lifetime and increase in nearly all cases the maintenance effort. We trust that you will understand that LEMKEN is unable to guarantee poor operation and damage caused by using spurious parts!
’General Health- and Safety precautions’! • Your LEMKEN - sprayer is intended to be used for transport and output of pesticides as insecticides, fungicides, herbicides in form of suspensions, emulsions and mixtures as well as liquid manure.

SAFETY INFORMATION General regulations • Prior to every start-up, check the device’s roadworthiness and operating safety! • Apart from the information contained in these operating instructions, also follow generally valid safety and accident prevention regulations! • Attached warning and information signs provide important information for a safe operation.
Page 8
• Passengers are not permitted on the device during work and transport rides! • Never leave the driver’s cab while driving! • Before leaving the tractor, remove the ignition key, apply the handbrake and wait until all mobile parts have come to a standstill! •...
Page 9
• Immediately dispose of any damaged parts! • Oil squirting from the device can not only cause injuries, but also start a fire! • Even if stored properly and subjected to permissible stresses only, hydraulic lines are subject to natural ageing. Their useful life is therefore limited. •...
Page 10
Power take off shaft • Only use a drive shaft approved for the device and equipped with prescribed safety devices! • The drive shaft’s protective pipe and protective funnel as well as power take-off shaft protection on the tractor and device side must be in place! •...
Page 11
• Never switch on the power take-off shaft while the engine is switched off! Switch off power take-off shaft if excessive bends are generated and if it is not required. Place disconnected drive shaft onto the transport mount provided for that purpose.
Page 12
• Substances that tend to bond or congeal may not be sprayed! Filling the tank • For the protection of man, animal and the environment, pesticide sprayers may not be filled from open waters! • State laws and municipal regulations regarding the use of water need to be observed.
Page 13
• The device therefore needs to be thoroughly cleaned with water before any repair or maintenance work is carried out! • Always carry out any service, maintenance and repair work or the elimination of malfunctions while the drive is switched off and the engine is standing still. Regularly check nuts and bolts for tight seat and retighten if necessary! •...
WARNING PICTOGRAMS Before using the device for the first time, read and follow operating instructions safety information! Before leaving the tractor and before carrying out any maintenance and repair work, remove the ignition key and wait until all mobile parts have come to a complete standstill! Never climb into the tank! Danger of intoxication!
INITIAL INSTALLATION Power supply On new tractors that are equipped with a power supply socket according to DIN 9680, it is possible to plug the operator panel’s power supply cable directly into the DIN-socket. On older tractors that are not equipped with a DIN-socket, the battery cable included in the supply is required and needs to be directly connected with the battery.
Hitching up − by setting the parking hydraulic support, bring the device into a horizontal position − Adjust the tractor’s yoke to the height of the drawbar eye − If it is not possible to optimally hitch up the device using the tractor’s adjustment possibilities, you can adjust the height of the end piece incl.
According to Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, trailed farming devices with a maximum permissible weight above 3.5 t may not be operated without service brake. The Albatros-pesticide sprayers for the German market (except Albatros 20/..) are as a standard equipped with a two-circuit compressed air brake system.
If nothing to the contrary has been specified on conclusion of contract, the track width of the trailed pesticide sprayers LEMKEN-Albatros 20/.., 30/.. and 40/.. is set to 1.50 m at the factory. However, it is possible to subsequently change the track width to 1.80 m by exchanging the wheels, i.e.
Drawbar versions It is possible to equip the trailed sprayer with two different drawbars: as a standard the height-adjustable yoke drawbar is installed. A yoke drawbar steering system (tracking system) is available as special equipment. It is possible to equip both drawbar versions with a spring borne drawbar end piece.
INITIAL START-UP As the manufacturer renders the device ready for operation and checks its functions prior to delivery, the purchaser need not take any action with regard to device set-up. The operator panel has also been matched to the respective device.
− If the desired amount of liquid has been filled into the spray mixture tank, set the 3- way tap(s) once more to „spraying“ (see illustration 5.1.3). Illustration 5.1.3 ATTENTION! When filling via external pumps or hydrants, open the dome cover to ensure adequate ventilation.
Level indicator The liquid level in the spray mixture and clean water tank can be read from the level indicator mounted on the side of the barrel. The amount of liquid discharged can be read from the respective operator panel. Checking the dosage −...
Adding the pesticide via the induction hopper It is possible to additionally equip the LEMKEN - Albatros - pesticide sprayers with an induction hopper, which makes it possible to completely dissolve even larger quantities of salt.
Page 25
− Fold away washing nozzle in the induction hopper and close cover. Fold up induction hopper until it engages in the transport locking device. Illustration 6.2.2 Illustration 6.2.1 Illustration 6.2.3 ATTENTION! Only actuate can washing if a jerry can or other container has actually been placed over the washing nozzle, as otherwise the operator will be forced to take an „unintentional shower“.
FOLDING THE BOOM On the standard device, the boom is actuated directly via the tractor’s hydraulic system. On the device fitted with the optional equipment „electrohydraulic actuation“, lock the connected control device for the tractor’s hydraulic system in the position „pressure“...
SPRAYING − After the boom has been unfolded and lowered into spraying position by means of the tilt compensation, carry out a terrain adaptation if necessary.Zapfwelle einschalten − Switch on power take-off shaft. − Enter target value on the operator panel (comply with separate operating instructions for operator panel).
ALBATROS-CONTROL BOX Standard equipment: Optional equipment: (1) Pressure indicator (10) Connection for signal distributor hydraulic system (2) Push-button to query the tank control (11) Manual actuation steering system (optional equipment) left / right (3) Connection for Spray-Control S or Uni-Control (12) Lifting / lowering boom (4) Main switch On/Off (13) Main boom (arm I and arm II)
(fog bands are generated) or if the diaphragm valves close. The devices will then still contain the following residual quantities: Type: LEMKEN Albatros 20/.. 17 l + 0.28 l per m boom LEMKEN Albatros 30/..
10.3 Internal tank cleaning After every use and before changing to another pesticide, the spray mixture tank and the induction hopper need to be cleaned. To do this, proceed as follows: − Switch on the power take-off shaft and let it run with max. 540 rpm. −...
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION 11.1 Reciprocating diaphragm pump Before and after every start-up, check the pump(s)’ oil level and replenish if necessary. It is recommended to replace the diaphragm every 400 operating hours or every 2 years. If a white oil/water mixture is detected (diaphragm rupture), immediately replace the diaphragm and carry out an oil change, as otherwise the pump’s insides will be damaged due to a lack of lubrication.
11.6 Tyre pressure To prevent damage to the tyres and to guarantee vehicle safety, the air pressure in the tyres needs to be checked at regular intervals. The correct tyre pressure depends on the device’s axle load and the max. permissible speed (25 km/h or 40 km/h).
Proceed as follows before using the device for the first time during the following season: − Drain and collect the residual amount of the antifreeze/water mixture from the tank. − Thoroughly clean the device on the inside and outside. − Fill the spray mixture tank with water. −...
