ti ng cable to the green connector. Some soft ware versions in old
system panels (supplied before May 2004) could confl ict with the
soft ware in the DDC and an update of the soft ware of the system
panel could be necessary. When this is the case consult to the
WhisperPower service department for advice.
When using the factory setti ngs, installati on is very simple: just
plug the remote cable into the remote and the generator is ready
to use. Refer to fi g. 14.

Acousti c alarm or warning lamp
One can connect an external max.150 mA relay to generate an
acousti c warning or applying a warning lamp etc. Be aware of po-
larity as some relays has a diode inside and should be connected
plus to plus and minus to minus as indicated. Refer to fi g. 14.
Connecti on for emergency stop / fi re alarm switch
To connect an emergency stop butt on or to stop the generator
automati cally in case of a fi re alarm, you can use the bypass con-
necti on between fastons J7 and J18 on the backside of the local
control panel. See fi g. 15. To do so, remove this bypass connec-
ti on and then replace it by an emergency switch or a potenti al
free fi re alarm switch with normally closed contacts

Automati c start/stop
WhisperPower cannot be held responsible for
damage caused by the unatt ended running
generator using the auto- start/stop mode or
interval mode.
Using the auto-start/stop (interval) mode the generator can
start unexpectedly. When working on the electrical system, the
3 Amp fuse must be removed from the control panel and the
batt ery plus cable must be removed from the batt ery.
The WhisperPower Digital Diesel Control system off ers several
opti ons for automati c starti ng and stopping.
Access to this menu and other menus could be blocked. For
blocking and setti ng up this opti ons refer to the APPENDIX of the
DDC user's manual.
One of these opti ons is to monitor a second batt ery (not being
the starter batt ery) to start the generator automati cally when the
voltage of this batt ery drops below a certain setti ng.
Other names for this second batt ery are "auxiliary batt ery",
"service batt ery", "users batt ery" or "consumers batt ery". We
will refer to this batt ery as "the second batt ery" (BAT2). In some
menus the starter batt ery could be indicated as "the fi rst batt ery"
(BAT1).
A sense wire to monitor the second batt ery should be connected
(att enti on polarity!) to the connector on the back of the remote
panel. Refer to fi g. 14. The sense wires must be connected direct-
ly on the second batt ery before a main switch and be protected
by a 3 Amps fuse. (Monitoring the generator starter batt ery does
not require an extra sense connecti on)
Setti ngs
When one want to apply other setti ngs than the factory setti ngs
refer to the DDC user's manual, especially to the APPENDIX.
For starti ng, the WhisperPower requires a batt ery with a capacity
of M-SQ15: 55 Ah, M-SQ18: 80 Ah. The generati ng set can be
connected with the main engine batt ery or have its own batt ery.
We strongly recommend the use of a separate batt ery for the
generati ng set and to keep the wiring system for the propulsion
engine and the domesti c DC supply system completely separate
and individually connected to separate batt eries.
