Owner's Manual
Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the BOSS DB-66 Dr. Beat. To
ensure proper operation, and years of trouble-free service, please take the time
to read through this Owner's Manual before starting out.
FEATURES
The BOSS Dr. Beat DB-66 is a perfect rhythm training aid for variable
types of music from rock to classical.
Adopting quartz system, the DB-66 guarantees extremely high accu-
racy.
The tempo is digitally shown in the Display, allowing you to set it
precisely and quickly.
Tapping the TAP Button to the music, you can see its tempo in the
Display Window.
The DB-66 outputs the standard pitch 440 Hz (A4) which can be
effectively used for usual tuning.
For basic rhythms ( ,

adjusted and accented.
IMPORTANT NOTES
When using an AC adaptor, use only the specified device (PSA Series). Use of any
other AC adaptor could result in damage, malfunction or electric shock.
[POWER SUPPLY]
Before connecting this unit to other devices, turn off the power to all units; this
will help prevent damage or malfunction.
Do not use this unit on the same power circuit with any device that will generate
line noise; an electric motor or variable lighting system for example.
The power requirement for this unit is indicated on its nameplate (rear panel).
Ensure that the voltage in your installation meets this requirement.
Avoid damaging the power cord: do not step on it, place heavy objects on it, etc.
When disconnecting the AC adaptor from the power outlet, grasp the plug itself;
never pull on the cord.
If the unit is to remain unused for an extended period of time, unplug the power cord.
When installing or replacing batteries, refer to "CHANGING THE BATTERY".
[PLACEMENT]
Do not subject the unit to temperature extremes (eg., direct sunlight in an
enclosed vehicle). Avoid using or storing the unit in dusty or humid areas, or areas
that are subject to high levels of vibration.
Using the unit near power amplifiers (or other equipment containing large power
transformers) may induce hum.
Do not expose the unit to temperature extremes or install it near devices that radiate
heat. Direct sunlight in an enclosed vehicle can deform or discolor the unit.
[MAINTENANCE]
For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth or one that has been
slightly dampened with water. To remove stubborn dirt, use a mild, non-abrasive
detergent. Afterwards, be sure to wipe the unit thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
Never use benzene, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid the
possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.
[ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS]
Protect the unit from strong impact.
Do not allow objects or liquids of any kind to penetrate the unit. In the event of
such an occurrence, discontinue use immediately. Contact qualified service
personnel as soon as possible.
Should a malfunction occur, or if you suspect there is a problem, discontinue use
immediately. Contact qualified service personnel as soon as possible.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not open the unit.
[CHANGING BATTERY]
When replacing battery, be sure to insert them correctly (to ensure correct polarity).
Remove the battery whenever the unit is to remain unused for an extended period
of time.
Please note that although a battery was installed in your DB-66 when it was shipped from the factory, it has not been connected. You will need to refer
to the section "CHANGING THE BATTERY", for instruction on connecting the battery.
PANEL DESCRIPTIONS
HEADPHONES Jack
Accepts connection of headphones
(stereo mini type).
AC ADAPTOR Jack
Connect the optional AC adaptor (BOSS
PSA Series) to this jack. By using an AC
adaptor, you are freed from worry about
the battery wearing out, and can con-
tinue to use the unit for as long as you
want.
Rhythm Volume
Sliders
These sliders adjust the sound
level of respective rhythms. The
volume increases as the slider
is raised. The slider

Tempo Indicators
These LED's indicate the current tempo.
When the Beat selects 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, the
left LED flashes at the first beat and the
right LED flashes at other beats. Only the
left LED flashes when the beat is set to 1.
And only the right LED flashes with the
beat set to 0.
Display
This shows the current tempo, beat and
beat number.

When the DB-66 is in the METRONOME

press it again to stop. In the TAP mode,
