EVAP Canister, Removing and Instal‐
ling
Note
Checking for leaks. Refer to
⇒ "4.5 Leak Detection Test, Performing", page 64
Removing
Follow all safety precautions. Refer to
⇒ "1 Safety Precautions", page 1
Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to
⇒ "2.1 Fuel Supply and Injection System, Clean Working Condi‐
tions", page 3
.
– On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode.
Refer to ⇒ Suspension, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr. 43 .
– Remove right rear wheel.
– Remove the right rear wheel housing liner. Refer to ⇒ Body
Interior; Rep. Gr. 66 .
– Separate the electrical connector -1- with ignition switched off.
– Press the relese button and disconnect the vent lines
-3 and 4-.
– Remove the vacuum line -2- from the Leak Detection Pump.
– Remove screws -5, 6, and 7- and remove EVAP canister.
– Unclip ground line from EVAP canister -arrow-.
Installing
Tightening specification. Refer to
⇒ "4.1 Overview - EVAP System", page 61
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
– Clip ground line onto EVAP canister -arrow-.
– Install the EVAP canister and tighten the bolts in the following
sequence: -6, 5, and 7-.
– Install vacuum line -2- on fuel system diagnostic pump.
– Install the vent lines -3 and 4- so that they engage audibly.
– Install the right rear wheel housing liner. Refer to ⇒ Body Ex‐
terior; Rep. Gr. 66 .
– On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode.
Refer to ⇒ Suspension, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr. 43 .
