Automatic maintenance
function
This printer has a self-cleaning function and
capping function for maintaining the print head
in consistently good condition to ensure the best
print quality.
AUTO NOZZLE CHECK function
By using the AUTO NOZZLE CHECK function, the
printer performs a nozzle check without printing
a pattern and if there are missing dots, it performs
cleaning automatically.
Self-cleaning function
Self-cleaning is a function for cleaning the print
head automatically to prevent the nozzles getting
clogged. It is performed periodically, for example
when you turn the printer on (during warming
up). A minute quantity of ink is drawn from each
ink cartridge to prevent the nozzle drying out.
Even if you press the
self-cleaning, the power is not turned off until
cleaning finishes. Do not pull out the power plug
of the printer during cleaning.
The self-cleaning function is not available when
AUTO NOZZLE CHECK is OFF.
Capping function
Capping is a function for automatically covering
the print head with a cap (lid) to prevent the print
head from drying out. Capping is performed in
the following situations.
❏ When several seconds have elapsed after
printing finishes (that is there is no print data
sent)
❏ When printing is stopped
Take care of the following points to ensure that
the print head is capped properly.
❏ If the print head is not positioned on the right
