To navigate to a point displayed on the CHART screen:
1. Press the 326,7,21 key to display the CHART screen.
2. Press the &85625 3$' to designate a nav aid, waypoint,
or unmarked point.
3. If you selected a waypoint, press the *2 72 :$<37
menu key; if you selected a cursor location, press the *2
72 &85625 menu key.
4. Press the (17(5 key. The unit guides you directly to the
point you designated.
That's all you have to do to use the unit in its simplest form.
Very often, this is the easiest and most powerful way to navi-
gate to a waypoint: Just select waypoints and navigate to them
one at a time, directly from the chart. This "point-and-shoot"
method of navigating gives you the maximum flexibility in
deciding where to go as you travel. Simply move the cursor to
the point where you want to go next, press *2 72 menu key
and the (17(5 key, and you're navigating!
The unit automatically creates a waypoint at the cursor loca-
tion (unless you selected an existing waypoint), stores it, and
begins navigating to it. A new waypoint is given the name
"-QUIK-". This waypoint is kept in the unit's memory like any
other waypoint, and can be converted to a regular waypoint
just by changing its name.
As soon as you repeat this procedure and designate a new
QUIK waypoint, the old one is overwritten and it disappears.
A QUIK waypoint can be entered graphically from the chart, as
described above, or numerically after pressing the :$<376
5287(6 key, as described next.
To navigate to a quick waypoint entered numerically:
1. Press the :$<3765287(6 key, and then press the
48,&. :$<32,17 menu key. The QUICK WAYPT screen
appears.
