  • Page 38 RIDING THE VEHICLE Before you ride, tell someone where you are planning to travel and your expected time of return. Depending on the length of your ride, carry additional tools , drinking water, food and emergency equipment. Find out where you can get additional gasoline and oil.
  • Page 39 RIDING THE VEHICLE The addition of weight to any part of the vehicle changes its gravitational stability and modifies its performance. O O f f f f - - R R o o a a d d O O p p e e r r a a t t i i o o n n The very nature of off-road operation is dangerous.

Do not direct your toes outwards nor extend your feet out to assist in turning as they can be hit or be snagged on passing ob- stacles, or may come into contact with the wheels. Even though there is a suspension on this vehicle, there are “washboard”...
  • Page 41 RIDING THE VEHICLE If you do get into a slide or skid, it may help to turn the handlebar in the direction of the skid until you regain control. Never jam the brakes and lock the wheels. Small rocks or fallen trees may be safely crossed approach at a 90° angle. Stand on the footrests while keeping your knees flexed.

  • Page 45 RIDING THE VEHICLE down and do not "gun" the throttle. This will only result in spinning of the tires and possibly in an over steering slide of the vehicle. Avoid hard braking. This will pos- sibly result in a straight line slide of the vehicle. Again, the best advice is to safely reduce speed in anticipation of a maneuver so to give yourself time and distance to regain total vehicle control before it spins out of your control.
