Problem
Flash does not fire

Possible cause
• Flash is off. Note that flash turns off automatically
when:
– Camera is in movie mode
– Continuous or Multi-shot 16 is selected in the
CONTINUOUS menu
– BSS is on
• Battery level is low.
• White balance does not match light source.
• Camera is in movie mode.
• Picture has been overwritten or renamed by a com-
puter or other make of camera.
• Picture is displayed in quick review. Small pictures
can only be created in playback mode.
• Picture is a movie. Small pictures can only be creat-
ed from photos.
• Picture is already a small picture.
• There is not enough free space on the memory card
for a small picture.
• Picture is a movie.
• Picture was created using small picture option.
• Video cable not correctly connected.
• Television not tuned to video channel.
• Video mode setting does not match device.
• Camera is off.
• EH-53 AC adapter (available separately) is not prop-
erly connected, or battery is dead.
• USB cable not correctly connected, or card not prop-
erly inserted in card reader, card adapter, or card
slot.
• Camera is not registered in Device Manager
(Windows only).
