  • Page 4 This operating manual describes instructions of use and maintanance about the transplanter FX. This machine can work only if coupled up with a tractor equipped with a universal 3 point link and with an operator on board. It is a- dvisable to follow all the instrucionts in this manual since the good working of the machine depends on its correct use and maintenance.

    4.0 WARNING 4.1 This machine needs one operator per row to feed the unit carousel. 5.0 LIFTING SYSTEM 5.1 Use lifting systems whose capacity is at least 3000 kilos. 5.2 The machine must be loaded and unloading using lifting belts. Belts must clasp the machine in the points shown in the picture (see following page).
  • Page 6 8.00 DISPOSAL In the event of the FX becoming irreparable (due to wear and tear or severe damage), nearly all its parts are recyclable. So the machine may be passed to a scrap dealer for disposal. Only the front tyres must be disposed separately. However there’s no particular prescription...

  • Page 8 10.0 INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE MACHINE IN SAFETY AND TO PREVENT AC- CIDENTS. 10.1 Read carefully all the instructions before using the machine, particu- larly for your own safety. The Building Company relieves from any responsabi- lity for any damages resulting from a misuse of the machine and from the non- observance of this instruction book.
  • Page 9 10.10 While driving on the road, with the machine lifted up by the tractor, block the lever of the lifting hydraulic system. 10.11 Operators must sit down on the various seats placing their feet on the fe- et-supports of the machine, only when the tractor is still and the machine lo- wered down.
  • Page 10 11.0 LINKAGE TO THE TRACTOR 11.1 The machine linkage to the tractor must take place on a flat surface. 11.2 Verify the 3 point linkage, it must be compatible. 11.3 Approach the tractor to the machine. Do not stand between the machine and the tractor during linkage, link the tractor only when the tractor is still.
  • Page 11 13.0 PLANTS TO BE USED 13.1 This transplanter was designed to transplant vegetables, flowers, tabacco etc … exclusively in conical or pyramidal-shaped modules. 13.2 The plant trays must be placed on the special tray-holders, which can be fixed or turning according to the customer request.

    16.0 OPERATOR FUNCTIONS 16.1 Take the plants from the trays and insert them into the carousel. In case the plant remains without the sod or with only a part of it, don’t insert the plant into the carousel because the machine can’t plant it. Arrange with the tractor-driver the right working speed, in order to succeed in planting in the lowest time.
  • Page 13 18.0 ADJUSTEMENTS WHENEVER EFFECTING ADJUSTMENTS, ALWAYS RESPECT SAFETY IN- STRUCTIONS DECRIBED AT POINT 10.0 18.1 EJECTING KICKER For a correct functioning of the ejecting kicker, as well as for a correct planting, the kicker must protrude 5,5 mm as shown in the picture here below. To adjust the protrusion, act on the joint A , uncrew the bolt B and turn the joint counterclockwise to increase the distance, viceversa clockwise to reduce it.
  • Page 14 18.2 HOW TO ADJUST THE ELEMENT PHASING Should it be necessay to adjust the phase of an element (for example when an element is added to the machine, or when a sprocket is changed...) act accor- ding to the following instructions: turn sprocket A clockwise until it reaches the position indicating 07.00 hours, loosen the chain and turn sprocket B until it rea- ches the position indicating 09.00 hours.
  • Page 15 18.4 PLANTING SPACE ADJUSTMENT The spacing between the plants in the same row can be adjusted according to your needings. Unscrew the screws C and remove the protection plate D, inside there is a di- stance chart which will help you to change the sprockets A and B according to the distance you need.(YOU’LL FIND THE SPACE CHART IN THE FOLLO- WING PAGE).

  • Page 17 18.6 ADJUSTEMENT BETWEEN THE ROWS Also the distance between the rows can be adjusted: first of all remove the pro- tection plate A, unscrew the small screw of the sprocket B (so that the spocket can move now). At this point unscew the fixations C and move the planting unit D to the left or to the right until you reach the right distance.
  • Page 18 18.7 PLANTING DEPTH ADJUSTEMENT It is possible to increase or decrease planting depth: release the lever A and turn the handle B clockwise to increase planting depth, on the contrary turn it coun- terclockwise to decrease.
  • Page 19 18.8 FIRMING WHEELS ADJUSTEMENT The deeper you plant, the wider you must adjust the wheels in order to prevent soil from accumulating in front of the wheels. Nevertheless, generally wheels must be adjusted as close as possible in order to compress soil and close the furrow.
  • Page 20 18.9 WEIGHT ADJUSTMENT ON THE ELEMENT According to the type of soil where the machine is working, it’s possible to incre- ase or decrease planting depth further on (see point 18.7). If soil is very light (sandy soil) and the machine is planting too deep, move the spring in the picture here below to position C, on the contrary if soil is very hard and the machine is not planting deep enough, move the spring to position A.

    19.0 MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR The maintenance times which are listed here below are considered for normal working conditions; in case the machine is used in more difficult conditions, due to environment or season factors, maintenance interventions must be logically increased.     19.3 EVERY WEEK Grease the sprockets and the moving parts by means of the special greasers. Lubricate transmission chains. Check the correct tightening of the screws. EFFECT MAINTENANCE ALWAYS RESPECTING THE SECURITY PRESCRIPTIONS AND WITH THE TRACTOR OFF.
  • Page 23 19.4 CAROUSEL MAINTENANCE To replace the carousel parts, follow instructions here below: unscrew the 4 screws A which are on the carousel and lift it upwards. At this point unscrew the 3 screws B holding the damaged cup and remove it from the carousel.
  • Page 24 19.5 INTERMITTOR MAINTENANCE To replace the intermittor parts, follow instructions here below: after removing the carousel, unscrew the samll screw A and lift the falling pipe B upwards. At this point unscrew the 6 screws C and lift cover D upwards. Unscrew the screw E and if the intermittor F is damaged, replace it by a Ferrari original new part.
  • Page 25 20.0 BREAKDOWNS 20.1 THE TRANSPLANTED PLANT IS NOT PERFECTLY UPRIGHT If the transplanted plants are not perfectly upright but on the contrary they lean towards the machine, the machine kicker does not protrude enough from the ploughshare; increase protrusion (see point 18.1); on the contrary if the plants lean backwards you must reduce protrusion of ther kicker (see point 18.1) 20.2 THE TRANSPLANTING SURFACE AND PLANTS ARE MUCH LOWER THAN THE SOIL LEVEL...
  • Page 26 20.4 PLANTS ARE PLANTED ON SURFACE OR TOO DEEP IN THE SOIL. If plants are planted on surface or if on the contrary they are planted too deep in the soil, you have problems with the phasing of the planting element. The first step is to check if the stated problem is caused by a delayed or advanced falling of the plant.
  • Page 27 21.0 SEASONAL STOPS At the end of the season or in case the machine doesn’t work for 2 or 3 months, it is advisable to: 21.1 Wash the machine, above all from eventual fertilisers or chemical products, and dry it (peat is fundamentally acid). 21.2 Check, and if that is the case replace the worn or damaged parts.
