Getting updates from Lenovo
Your tablet is preinstalled with a notification application that informs you about the latest software updates
from Lenovo.
The application icon is displayed in Lenovo Launch Zone only when there are unread system notifications
from Lenovo. See "Lenovo Launch Zone" on page 12. Touch the icon to open a message box to check for
detailed information about the updates, and then follow the instructions to update your tablet if you want.
Getting updates from Android
Your tablet receives automatic notifications when updates are available for the Android operating system.
When you receive an Android update notification, touch Install now, Install later, or More info from the
pop-up options menu when the auto-notification is displayed.
You also can check for updates manually. To check for the latest updates, do the following:
1. From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon

2. Touch About tablet ➙ System updates.
3. A screen opens and displays all the available updates from Android.
Note: If there is no update available, you will see a message stating that your system is up to date.
4. If you want to apply the update, touch Restart & install, and then follow the instructions to finish the
installation. Otherwise, touch the Back button.

Travel tips

Use the following travel tips to travel more confidently and efficiently with your tablet:
1. While it is safe to allow your tablet to go through the x ray machines at airport security stations, it is
important to keep your eyes on the tablet at all times to prevent theft.
2. Put your tablet in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage or scratching.
3. If you are traveling abroad, disable the data roaming function to prevent unwanted charges. See
"Disabling data roaming on mobile networks" on page 23.
Travel tips on airplanes
If you carry your tablet into an airplane, check the following travel tips:
1. If you are going to use the wireless service, check with the airline for any restrictions before boarding
the airplane.
2. If there are restrictions on the use of tablets with the wireless feature on an airplane, enable the Airplane
mode. To enable it, do the following:
a. Touch the time area from the system bar to open the Status Details panel.
b. Touch anywhere in the Status Details panel. The Quick Settings panel is displayed.
c. Touch Airplane mode.
3. Be careful about the seat in front of you on the airplane. Place your tablet in a safe position so that it
does not get caught when the person in front of you leans back.
