Chapter 3. Connecting to wireless networks and devices

Your tablet can connect to a variety of networks and devices, including mobile networks (2G or 3G), Wi-Fi
data networks, and Bluetooth devices.
Note: Some tablet models can connect to both mobile networks (2G or 3G) and Wi-Fi networks, while others
can connect to Wi-Fi networks only. If your tablet supports Wi-Fi connection only, the information related
to mobile networks does not apply to your tablet.

Determining which mobile network you are using

For some networks, you can check the network name to see which mobile network you are using.
To check the network name, do the following:
1. From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon
applications icon
2. Touch Wireless & networks ➙ Mobile networks to view the name of the network to which you are
connected.

Disabling data roaming on mobile networks

Disable the data roaming function to avoid unwanted charges when you are traveling with your tablet to
areas covered by other carriers' mobile networks.
To disable the data roaming function, do the following:
1. From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon
applications icon
2. Touch Wireless & networks ➙ Mobile networks and clear the Data roaming check box.

Limiting mobile data connection to 2G networks

If your battery power is low and you are unable to charge the battery, limit the mobile data connection to a
2G network to extend your battery life. A slower network connection consumes less power.
Note: When you are connected to a 2G network, you might want to postpone activities that transmit a lot of
data, such as sending, uploading, or downloading pictures or videos, until you can charge your battery and
connect your tablet to a faster mobile network or other wireless network.
To limit data connection to a 2G network, do the following:
1. From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon
applications icon
2. Touch Wireless & networks ➙ Mobile networks.
3. Touch Use only 2G networks.
