Data is only for use in the analyzers or data-acquisi- tion systems accompanying the conditioning amplifier.
CHAPTER 1 Introduction Serial Interface All functions can be controlled via the serial RS–232 interface. Controlling all the parameters via the interface allows you to use Type 2694 amplifiers in automated test environments. Up to 16 Type 2694 units can be daisy-chained in a single setup on one COM port on a PC.

16-channel Conditioning Amplifier Type 2694 – User Manual Chassis ground and RS–232 interface ground are the same. Both are isolated from the power ground. EMC Immunity Type 2694 amplifiers do not require ferrite cable clamps to comply with EMC Emis- sion standards EN 50081–1 and EN 50081–2.
Chapter 3 Operation Overview Preliminary Environmental Temperature Type 2694 conditioning amplifiers are built for portable, outdoor use and can be used over a wide temperature range extending from –10 to +55°C (14 to 131°F) at a maximum humidity of 90% RH at 40°C (104°F) (non-condensing). Electromagnetic Compatibility Type 2694 amplifiers meet the European EMC requirements EN 50081–1/2 (Emission) and EN 50082–1/2 (Immunity).

CHAPTER 3 Operation Overview Loops can be formed by signal cables and RS–232 cables or output cables connect- ing to accompanying analyzers or data-acquisition systems. To avoid this, the accelerometer can be isolated from the structure with an isolated stud and a mica washer, when single-ended DeltaTron input is used. Most DeltaTron accelerometers have built-in insulators and thus are always isolated from the test structure and grounded through the amplifier (see Fig.3.1).

Chapter 4 The Use of Control Software BZ 5291 Introduction Start the program and the main window appears, divided into three sections – the File Manager, Link and Setup views (see Figures 1.4 – 1.6). These are central to controlling Type 2694’s operation. Initially, a smaller window appears within the main window where you must select the COM port(s) connecting Type 2694 to your computer.

16-channel Conditioning Amplifier Type 2694 – User Manual The Help button in the taskbar is a useful function. To use it, simply right-click on the button in the task bar, release, and right-click again on the area you would like explained. This Help option works both on- and off-line. Example Setup: Attach some transducers to a Type 2694 amplifier (assume that the system is set up to measure DeltaTron transducers).

CHAPTER 4 The Use of Control Software BZ 5291 It is possible to increase the DeltaTron current by paralleling inputs, thus obtaining multiples of the supply current if desired. The output is then available on a number of channels which could, for example, be set to various gains. However, TEDS func- tionality will be disabled.

Chapter 5 Maintenance, Service and Repair General Maintenance Daily Use There are neither user-serviceable parts in Type 2694 amplifiers nor fuses that need replacing. Cleaning To clean the cabinet, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with an anti-static detergent suited for plastic surfaces. Although the surface of the amplifier is resistant to many chemicals, avoid using strong detergents.
