40MUAA: Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION

Step 1 - Check Equipment

Unpack the unit and move to the final location. Remove the carton, taking
care not to damage the unit. Inspect the equipment for damage prior to
installation. File a claim with the shipping company if the shipment is
damaged or incomplete. Locate the unit rating plate, which contains the
proper installation information. Check the rating plate to be sure the unit
matches the job specifications.
The indoor unit should be installed in a location that meets the following
requirements:
• Enough room for installation and maintenance
• Enough room for the lineset and drainpipe
• A structure that can sustain the weight of the indoor unit
• The air inlet and outlet are not impeded
• There is no direct radiation from heaters
CAUTION
DO NOT install the unit in the following locations:
• Areas with oil drilling or fracking
• Coastal areas with high salt content in the air
• Areas with caustic gases in the air, such as near hot springs
• Areas with power fluctuations, such as factories
• Enclosed spaces, such as cabinets
• Areas with strong electromagnetic waves
• Areas that store flammable materials or gas
• Rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms or laundry
rooms.

Step 2 - Mount Unit

The unit can stand or lie on the floor, or hang from a ceiling or a wall.
Allow space for wiring, piping, and servicing the unit.
IMPORTANT: When the unit is installed over a finished ceiling and/
or living area, building codes may require a field-supplied secondary
condensate pan to be installed under the entire unit.
Some localities may allow as an alternative, the running of a separate,
secondary condensate line. Consult the local codes for additional
restrictions or precautions.
NOTE: Nuisance sweating may occur if the unit is installed in a high
humidity environment with low airflow.
Manufacturer reserves the right to change, at any time, specifications and designs without notice and without obligations.

Step 3 - Mount Positions

The units can be installed in a vertical (down and up) and Horizontal
(right and left) configuration.
