Problem
Linux operating systems - only
If the following Communications error is
displayed when you select a scanner
after initially installing Linux drivers on
Fedora 7:
Please check to make sure the
scanner has powered up
successfully and the cable is
securely attached to both the PC and
the scanner. If you are still having a
problem, power down the scanner,
then power up the scanner, wait for it
to finish initializing and try again.

Before checking cable connections and performing the power down
sequence:
1. Click OK on the message.
2. Select System>Administration>SELinux Management.
3.
Enter your root/superuser password. The SELinux Administration
screen will be displayed
4. Select Permissive from the System Default Enforcing mode drop-
down list.
5. Select Permissive from the Current Enforcing mode drop-down list.
6. Close the SELinux Administration screen and try again.
Following is a listing of the error codes that may be displayed in the
Function window. When an error occurs, the red indicator will blink and
a number is displayed in the Function window.

NOTE: The numbers 1-9 may be displayed when the scanner's LED is
green. These are not error codes; they are function numbers.
Used together with the Scroll and Start buttons and Smart Touch
functionality, the function numbers can greatly improve your
ease of use.
Possible Solution
.
Remedy
Be sure the USB cable is securely
connected to the scanner and PC.
Turn the scanner off, then on again.
Restart the scanning application and try
again. If the problem persists, contact
Kodak Service.
Close the scanner cover.
Open the scanner and remove any
paper in the paper path.
