Technical Description

4. Technical Description
The EIIB is intended for two primary purposes:
1.
To provide a direct hardware connection between the supported Epson IMU and the
NovAtel OEM7 Development Kit.
2.
To facilitate prototyping and software development of the supported Epson IMU with the
NovAtel OEM7 Development Kit without the need of additional hardware or cabling.
The EIIB is powered directly by the 3.3 volt power supply and GND pins on connector P1, which is
supplied directly from the OEM7 Development Kit.
The serial host bus interface between the OEM7 Development Kit and EIIB only supports an SPI
interface with DRDY (Data Ready) line. A UART interface is not supported.
Additionally, the OEM7 TIMEMARK or EVENT_OUT2 signals can optionally be connected to the Epson
IMU on the EIIB. Refer to Section 5.1 Configuration Resistors for more information.
The EIIB is a carrier board for directly mounting supported Epson G-series and V-series IMUs. Please
contact NovAtel directly to inquire about the supported Epson IMU models.
NOTE: Only one Epson IMU should be mounted on the respective P2 or P3 connectors at any given
time. Mounting Epson IMUs on both P2 and P3 at the same time may cause irreversible damage to
Epson IMUs, EIIB or the OEM7 Development Kit.
