Tool Disposal
This product uses a lithium‑ion rechargeable and recyclable
battery. When the battery no longer holds a charge, the tool
should be recycled. The tool should not be incinerated or
placed in the trash.
The tool can be taken for disposal to an Authorized Service
Center. Some local retailers are also participating in a national
recycling program (refer to RBRC®). Call your local retailer for
details. If you bring the tool to an Authorized Service Center,
the Center will arrange to recycle the tool and its battery.
Or, contact your local municipality for proper disposal
instructions in your city/town.
Charging the Battery (Fig. A, B)

WARNING: Do not use tool while it is connected to
the charger. The integral battery needs to be charged
before first use and whenever it fails to produce
sufficient power on jobs that were easily done before.
The battery may become warm while charging; this is
normal and does not indicate a problem.

WARNING: For use only with the supplied charger.

WARNING: Do not charge the battery at ambient
temperatures below 39 °F (4 °C) or above 104 °F (40 °C).
nOTE: The charger will not charge a battery if the cell
temperature is below approximately 39 °F (4 °C) or above
104 °F (40 °C).
From new, the rechargeable cells of the product need a
minimum charge time of 3 to 4 hours to ensure full power.
1. The switch must be in the OFF position, the tool will not
charge if it is in any other position.

nOTE: While charging, the charger may get warm,
this is perfectly normal and safe. It is safe to leave the
appliance connected to the charger indefinitely. The
charger automatically reduces power consumption when
charging is complete.

Electronic Protection System

Li‑Ion tools are designed with an Electronic Protection
System that will protect the battery against overloading,
overheating or deep discharge. The tool will automatically
turn off and the battery will need to be recharged.

Important Charging Notes

1. The tool may become warm to the touch while charging.
This is a normal condition, and does not indicate a
problem. To facilitate the cooling of the tool after use,
avoid placing the tool in a warm environment such as in
a metal shed or an uninsulated trailer.
2. If the tool does not charge properly, take the tool and
charger to your local service center.

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS


WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious
personal injury, turn unit off before making any
adjustments or removing/installing attachments
or accessories. An accidental start‑up can
cause injury.

WARNING: Risk of lacerations or burns. Do not touch
the sharp edges of accessories at any time. Do not
touch workpiece or blade immediately after operating
the tool. They can become very hot. Handle carefully.
Always allow accessories and work piece to cool
before handling.
Installing/Removing Accessories (Fig. C, D)
The tool features an exclusive tool‑free system for faster
accessory changes and adjustments without the need for
wrenches or hex keys like other oscillating tool systems.
1. Grasp the tool and squeeze the tool‑free accessory
clamp lever

2. Clean any residual debris from the tool shaft

Attaching Accessories Using the
Universal Adapter (Fig. E)

for an application where the adaptor may fail to hold
the accessory.

warnings for any accessories used with this tool.

CAUTION: To avoid injury, ensure adaptor and
accessory are securely tightened.
Non‑BLACK+DECKER accessories can be attached using the
universal adaptor.
