3. APPROPRIATE USE

The GAS ALARM GX-A1 is a gas warning device for various gases and can already deliver a
warning at a gas concentration that lies below life-threatening values. This monitoring system
is, therefore, in line with its purpose, set to a very high sensitivity. For each type of gas, a
suitable sensor must be used (for information on trigger levels and minimum concentration,
see the instructions for the sensor).
An LCD display keeps you continually informed of the current gas concentration. The alarm is
signalled acoustically and optically. At the same time, a potential-free relay contact is closed,
which can be used, for example, to cut off the gas line by means of a magnetic cut-off valve
so that no further gas can escape from any leakage of the gas line or gas furnance. The de-
vice may not be used in areas with a risk of explosion. Another use of the device as described
above is not authorized.

4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The installation shall be performed by qualified personnel.
Please note the five safety rules!
The GAS ALARM GX-A1 and the sensor may be installed only in dry,
interior rooms and must be correctly placed according to the type of gas
to ensure faultless operation of the alarm system.
4.1 Wall installation GX-A1
For wall-mounting, the four housing screws must be loosened. Afterwards, the front plate
hast to be lifted and - if necessary - the ribbon cable must be removed from the electrical
outlet. The subshell of the device can now be installed on the wall (assembly material is
included).
Important! The connecting cables leading to the GAS ALARM must be ins-
talled as fixed, surface-mounted lines.

4.2 Sensor installation

Depending on the type of sensor connected, the device detects different gases, e.g. city
gas and natural gas (methane/butane), carbon monoxide and smoke or inert gases. For
each type of sensor, there is a prescribed mounting height to take account of the differing
properties of the gases.
It is essential to observe the prescribed mounting height! Please note the
operating instructions of the sensor you wish to use and you will see the
specified mounting height!
