This optional front chassis fan is recommended only if it is required for non-factory-integrated high power PCI cards. When this fan is installed, HP recommends that you verify that the temperatures of the PCI card and other components are within the limits recommended by the component suppliers.

1. Remove the card guide from the chassis. Release the two card guide latches. Pivot the card guide toward the system board 1, and lift it out of the chassis 2. (The following figures show an HP xw8400 Workstation for reference.) 2.

3. Lower the front fan/card guide assembly into the chassis 1, rotate it back 2, and snap it into place. Be sure that the airflow direction arrow on the side of the fan faces the rear of the chassis. Connect the front fan wire connector to the front fan connector on the system board 3.
