Configuring the Board

The network board is able to 'auto-negotiate'. If the hub also has this
capability, the two are able to determine, automatically, the best mode at
which to communicate (full or half duplex, 10 or 100 Mbits per second). If
the hub is not capable of auto-negotiation, the board defaults to half duplex
mode.
A 10/100 switch device node is required (for example, when connecting a
100 Mbits per second node to one or more 10 Mbits per second nodes).
The board can be configured completely by software (no switches or
jumpers need changing).
The setup utility program, for use with the Windows NT operating system, is
called
. It can be used to view the board's configuration, to test the
HPSet
board, and to override the default values of advanced parameters. Normally,
though, PCI devices are configured automatically, and the allocation of
resources, such as IRQs and memory, is done in the PCI BIOS.
