Remove the heat sink (2).
NOTE:
The thermal material must be thoroughly cleaned from the surfaces of the heat sink (1)
and (2), and the system board components (3) and (4) each time the heat sink is removed.
Replacement thermal material is included with all heat sink, system board, and processor spare
part kits.
NOTE:
Steps 4 through 6 apply only to HP Compaq 6530s Notebook PC models. See steps 1
through 3 for removing the heat sink on HP Compaq 6531s Notebook PC models. See steps 7
through 9 for removing the heat sink on HP Compaq 6535s Notebook PC models.

Turn the system board upside down, with the audio connectors toward you.
5.
Following the 1, 2, 3, 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the six screws (1) around the
processor.
