VL-3E-1 Maintenance Manual Structures Fuselage 3.1.1 Fuselage design The fuselage is designed as sandwich shell with transverse cross bulkheads. Engine-compartment is separated from cockpit by sandwich firewall. Engine bed is fastened on the firewall, which is protected against fire and heat by a steel sheet.
