To install the 2.5-inch storage drive, do the following:
1. Install the 2.5-inch storage drive into the storage converter. Then, install the four screws to secure the
2.5-inch storage drive to the storage converter.

2. Connect the signal cable and the power cable to the 2.5-inch storage drive.
3. Install the 2.5-inch storage drive into the storage drive bay. See "Replacing the 3.5-inch storage drive"
on page 68.

Replacing the 3.5-inch storage drive

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read

This section provides instructions on how to replace the 3.5-inch storage drive.
Note: This section also applies to computer models with a 2.5-inch storage drive.
To replace the 3.5-inch storage drive, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 56.
3. Locate the 3.5-inch storage drive. See "Computer components" on page 5 .
4. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the 3.5-inch storage drive.
