  • Page 2 Please read and understand all instructions provided BEFORE you begin line replacement. Failure to follow specified precautions may result in damage to the Perfect Descent and require factory service.
  • Page 3 REQUIRED TOOLS: • Phillips head screwdriver with a minimum of a 3 inch shaft length • 5/16 inch allen wrench • Duct tape or packing tape INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Remove the Perfect Descent from the climbing wall and lay it on a flat surface with the face label down. Lay a soft material beneath the unit to protect it. Tie the handle to a fixed location to secure the Perfect Descent during line extraction, or have someone hold the Perfect Descent handle while the line is being extracted. 2. Remove the Phillips head screw located near the line nozzle (Figure 2). Figure 2 3. Note the vertical orientation of the webbing and nozzle slot. It is important that the webbing is not twisted during line extraction. Pull the nozzle from the housing without twisting (Figure 3) and extract all of the line from the Perfect Descent, being careful not to let the line twist or escape your grip. Extract the line until the field replaceable hardware and approximately three inches of blue webbing are outside of the housing. Figure 3...
  • Page 4 4. Secure the line by inserting a Figure 4 Phillips head screwdriver between the two layers of blue webbing where indicated in Figure 4. To prevent twisting it is important that the webbing maintain its vertical orientation (screwdriver oriented vertically). The screwdriver will prevent the joint from returning into the housing during replacement.
  • Page 5 6. Remove and discard all joint hardware and the detached line with nozzle and carabiner. DO NOT REUSE OLD HARDWARE. ONLY USE THE NEW HARDWARE PROVIDED WITH THE REPLACEMENT KIT FOR NEW LINE REPLACEMENT! Figure 8 7. Insert the new threaded dowel pin into the loop formed by the blue webbing (Figure 8). Align the threaded hole with the hole in the blue webbing loop. Figure 9 8. Using the Allen wrench, secure the new replacement line to the blue webbing by running...
  • Page 6 10. Tie a knot loop approximately 12” down on the new replacement line. Grasp the line and pull it towards the knot loop behind the nozzle. Untwist the portion of webbing between the nozzle and the screwdriver that secures the webbing. Check that the screwdriver is still vertical, and has not rotated during line replacement. If so, reorient the screwdriver to its original position. Also check that the black mark is still on the upper portion of webbing. 11. With the nozzle slot oriented vertically, and no twists in the line, apply tension to the nozzle and knot loop while removing the duct Figure 11 tape and screwdriver that secured the webbing (Figure 11). Feed the line back into the housing until the nozzle and knot loop are against the housing. Press the nozzle into the housing so that the nozzle slot remains vertical, and the nozzle...
  • Page 7 A twisted line will result in the line dragging on the housing, impeding retraction. If you suspect that the line has become twisted during the replacement process, remove the Perfect Descent from use until the unit can be returned to an authorized service center for repair.
