Searching for tracks
Tracks on the medium loaded in this unit can be searched for using
the [SEARCH] categories.
! Tracks recorded on discs cannot be searched.
! Tracks recorded on media for which library browsing is not pos-
sible cannot be searched.

Press [BROWSE] j.

Turn the rotary selector p.
Select the [SEARCH] category.

Press the rotary selector p.
The display switches to the character input screen.

Use the rotary selector p to input characters.
Select u then press the rotary selector p.

Only the tracks including the character you have input are displayed.
! When more characters are input, only the tracks including the
character string you have input are displayed.
! When [BACK] is pressed, the character that was just input is
deleted. If no character has been input, the category screen
reappears.
Using the jump function
The jump function can be used to instantaneously move to the track,
category or folder you want to play.
The jump function includes the two modes below.
! Letter jumping: Use this when the tracks are arranged or sorted in
alphabetical order.
! Page jumping: Use this when the tracks are not arranged or sorted
in alphabetical order. Turn the rotary selector to jump by page.
 In the letter jump mode

Press the rotary selector p for over 1 second.
The letter jump mode is set. The first letter of the selected track is
displayed at the top left.
! The characters displayed in the letter jump mode are letters A to Z,
numbers 0 to 9 and certain symbols.

Select the character to which you want to move.

Press the rotary selector p.
The display moves to the category starting with the selected character
or symbol.
 In the page jump mode

Press the rotary selector p for over 1 second.
The mode switches to the page jump mode.

Select the page to which you want to move.

Press the rotary selector p.
The display moves to the selected page.
About the playback history (HISTORY)
When tracks being managed by rekordbox are played, the playback
history is recorded in the [HISTORY] category.
A new playback history is created each time the power is turned on/ off
or a USB device is connected/ disconnected.
The maximum number of tracks that can be recorded in a single play-
back history is 999.
! Tracks are recorded in the playback history if they are played for at
least 60 seconds.
! The playback history is recorded on the USB device.
! The playback history is not recorded if there is not enough free
space on the USB device or if the USB device is write-protected.
! Playlists can be made based on the playback history using rekord-
box. For details, see the rekordbox operating instructions.
! When a playback history is stored as a playlist using rekordbox,
the playback history is deleted.

Load an SD memory card/ USB device in the CDJ-850.

Play tracks.
The track being played is recorded and displayed in the playback
history.
 Deleting the playback history

With the contents of the [HISTORY] category
displayed, press [MENU (UTILITY)] m.
The delete menu is displayed.

Turn rotary selector p then press it.
Select the range to be deleted.
! [DELETE]: The playback history selected with the cursor is
deleted.
! [ALL DELETE]: All playback histories are deleted.

Turn rotary selector p then press it.
! [CANCEL]: The previous screen reappears.
! [OK]: The deletion is performed.

Using the [TAG LIST] button

Up to 1 000 tracks to be played next or tracks selected according to the
DJing situation can be collected ahead of time in the tag list.
