The Honeywell Home Pro Series thermostat may increase the temperature on its own due to the Adaptive Intelligent Recovery (AIR) function. This feature learns how long it takes to reach the desired temperature and starts heating or cooling in advance to ensure comfort at the scheduled time. This function is enabled by default but can be disabled through the Menu settings if needed.

@Mr. Anderson Hello, what do you mean by make sure the power is on? I set mine to heat, it comes on and then goes right off. I cannot get it to stay on to save my life, and my house is freezing.

blinking while set on cool. I changed the batteries and it worked for an hour. Tried to change settings and now its reading 24 in large letters with a small 5 next to it.

When the Honeywell thermostat blinks "Cool On" while set on cool, it typically means the system is in a 5-minute delay mode to protect the compressor. The display showing "24" with a small "5" next to it likely indicates the set temperature (24°C or 75°F) and the 5-minute delay. Wait 5–10 minutes to see if the system starts cooling. If not, try turning the thermostat off, removing and reinstalling the batteries, then setting it to cool again. Also, ensure the circuit breaker is on, the furnace door is closed, and the power switch is on.

I cannot get the Honeywell Pro series thermostat to start Ac or heat. Was working earlier this summer 2025. Have fresh batteries, no error messages. Only thing I can't do per as instructed on on line video instructions is I can't remove permanent/temporary hold. Is that the issue?

The Honeywell Pro Series thermostat may not start the AC or heat if the HVAC system is not responding, the thermostat is not properly wired, or the system is not powered on. The inability to remove a temporary or permanent hold is unlikely to be the cause, as holds only override the schedule but do not disable system operation. If the thermostat is on hold and set to a temperature that wouldn’t trigger heating or cooling, the system may appear inactive.
