RECOIL STARTER DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove:
• Starter handle 1
NOTE:
Make a knot a at the end of the starter rope to
prevent the rope from being retracted into the
starter case. Then, undo the knot b at the
b
starter handle to the remove the starter handle

2. Remove:
• Drum sheave 1
CAUTION:
Be sure to press down on the drum sheave,
because the spring will spring out sud-
denly when it is removed from the sheave
drum.

3. Remove:
• Starter spring 1

RECOIL STARTER INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
• Starter rope 1
2. Inspect:
• Starter spring 2
Damage/deterioration → Replace.

• Drive pawl 1
• Drive plate 2
Wear/damage → Replace.
