Approved Application
1.1
The Peakworks Tank Trolley
fill erected storage tanks or other similar surfaces. The trolley contains two bearings that roll
along the top of the tank. A vertical connection bar provides a convenient anchorage connection
for fall protection equipment. The trolley can be used horizontally at waist height or overhead.
Several trolleys (one per worker) can be used on one tank, as long as the anchorage
requirements below have been satisfied. The Tank Trolley
combination with a Peakworks full body harness and shock-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting
lanyard.
1.2
Anchorage Strength: All anchorages (tanks) must be capable of supporting a minimum of 3,600
lbs. (16 kN) when certification exists, or 5,000 lbs. (22 kN) in the absence of certification. (See
ANSI Z359 for definition of certification.) When more than one personal fall arrest system is
attached to an anchorage, the anchorage strengths above shall be multiplied by the number of
personal fall arrest systems attached to the anchorage. This requirement is consistent with OSHA
requirements which read, "Anchorages used for attachment of personal fall arrest systems shall
be independent of any anchorage being used to support or suspend platforms and capable of
supporting at least 5,000 lbs. (22 kN) per user attached, or be designed, installed and used as
part of a complete personal fall arrest system which maintains a safety factor of at least two and
is supervised by a qualified person."
