Intended use: Endodontic motor “Estus Drive” is a device for the tooth root canals preparation using: - all types of Ni‐Ti files with continuous and reciprocal rotation and with built-in apex locator to control the distance from the file tip to the apical constriction (physiological apex) during the endomotor operation;...

The contaminated head clamp mechanism could cause improper file fixation in the head and also the contact loss and violation of the measuring circuit continuity of the in-built apex locator. ! Do not start the motor until the file is not reliably set in the head clamp mechanism.

In the absence of the battery unit in the socket of the сharging stand, the voltage is automatically disconnected from the terminals of the сharging stand, ensuring complete electrical safety of the product.

Put in the head in the control unit only when the power is turned on, in order to ensure a reliable connection of the head gearbox to the motor and correct automatic recognition.

Apex locator measuring circuit continuity check Apex locator measuring circuit continuity is the significant factor for the accurate and reliable localization of the canal apical constriction. Even the short-time electrical contact failure between any circuit elements could cause accuracy and/or stability measurements loss.
  • Page 30 USER’S MANUAL 2. Do not use contaminated or oxidized files. 3. Check the apex locator measuring circuit continuity every time before working and also if during the working process the readings are absent or unstable. For checking the circuit continuity: Close the lip clip and the working file to each other.

  • Page 32 USER’S MANUAL During operation with SAF head it is necessary to use pump “Estus Pump” for the irrigating solution supply. The absence of the pump connected to the motor (see Step 13.3) causes the blocking of the motor start by the program.

In this case at the apex achieving the reverse rotation is not switched on, and the file rotates directly. ATTENTION! At this function switched off the file could go beyond the apical constriction.

    USER’S MANUAL 7. BASIC RULES OF WORK WITH APEX LOCATOR For more accurate apex-locator measurement results, please, follow these rules: 1. Carefully isolate the studied tooth and working file from saliva. We recommend to use cofferdam, cotton swabs, saliva ejectors; 2.

Root canal with blood, saliva or a chemical solution overflowing from the opening If blood, saliva, or a chemical solution overflows from the opening of the root canal and contacts gums, this will result in electrical leakage and an accurate measurement can not be obtained.
  • Page 44 USER’S MANUAL 5. Retreatment of a root canal, filled with gutta-percha The gutta-percha must be completely removed to eliminate its insulating effect. After removing the gutta- percha, pass a small file all the way through apical constriction and then put a little saline in the canal, but do not let it overflow the canal opening.

STERILIZATION AND DISINFECTION All the device's elements directly contacted with the patient's oral liquid, mucosa and tooth tissues must be preliminarily cleaned and terminally sterilized. All the rest elements and surfaces of the device must be disinfected for further using without sterilization.

To avoid entering he disinfectant into the product housing, it is strictly forbidden to carry out disinfection by immersing the handpiece or the charging station in any solutions.
