Default Configuration Files

The switch firmware contains default configuration files that are loaded at the
factory. When the switch first initializes, the default configuration files are loaded
into the active switch memory. The default settings allow the switch to perform
basic functions with minimal effort by the system administrator.
Custom configuration settings made by the administrator will override the default
settings and can be saved so that they are retained if the switch is rebooted.
However, if desired, you can revert the custom configuration settings to the original
factory defaults. The original factory default configuration files are a permanent
part of the firmware; you cannot deleted them or change their original definitions.
To reset the switch to its factory defaults, you can use one of the following methods:
Use the CLI to reset the switch to factory defaults:
Erase the switch startup configuration:
NE1032> enable
NE1032# save erase
Warning: This command will erase the startup-configuration.
Do you wish to proceed anyway? (y/n) [n] y
Enter y at the prompt to confirm the erasing process and then reload the switch:
NE1032# reload
Using the Management Boot Menu by selecting Change configuration to
factory default. For more details, see
page
79.
