3. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the computer cover is facing up.
4. Remove the computer stand. See "Replacing the computer stand" on page 52.
5. Slide the back cover as shown to remove it from the chassis.

Replacing the memory module shield
Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page iii .
To replace the memory module shield, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the back cover. See "Removing the back cover" on page 54.
3. Locate the memory module shield. See "Computer components" on page 5 .
