Troubleshooting
Charge the battery pack
- Battery pack is exhausted. Charge the battery pack.
Check the memory card
- Cannot access the SD card. Check the card and make sure it is inserted correctly.

- An SD card error occurred. The camcorder cannot record or display the image. Try removing and reinserting the card,
or use a different SD card.
- You inserted a MultiMedia Card (MMC) into the camcorder. Use a compatible SD card (A 29).
- If after the message disappears, 6/7 appears in red, perform the following: Turn off the camcorder and remove and
reinsert the SD card. If 6/7 turns back to green you can resume recording/playback. If the problem persists, save
your recordings (A 101) and initialize the card (A 31).
Fan error
- The cooling fan may not be working properly. Consult a Canon Service Center.
File name error
- The folder and file numbers have reached their maximum value. Set [3 Recording Setup] > [File Numbering] to
[Reset] and delete all the clips and photos (A 93) on the SD card or initialize it (A 31).
Initialize only using the camcorder
- Initialize the SD card with this camcorder (A 31).
May not be possible to record movies on this memory card
- You may not be able to record movies on an SD card without a Speed Class rating or rated SD Speed Class 2 or 4.
Replace the SD card with one rated SD Speed Class 6 or 10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or U3.
- To record 4K clips with a resolution of [3840x2160 (150 Mbps)] and to use slow & fast motion recording, use SD cards
rated UHS Speed Class U3.
Memory card cover is open
- After inserting an SD card, close the SD card compartment cover.
Memory card is full
- The SD card is full. Delete some recordings (A 93) to free some space or replace the card.
Memory card is write-protected
- The LOCK switch on the SD card is set to prevent accidental erasure. Change the position of the LOCK switch.
No clips
- There are no clips on the SD card selected.
No memory card
- Insert a compatible SD card into the camcorder (A 30).
No photos
- There are no photos to play back.
Operation canceled
- Clips cannot be recorded because the control data is corrupted or an encoder error has occurred. (Control data
cannot be recovered with the camcorder.) Turn the camcorder off and the on again. Remove the SD cards and reinsert
them, or replace them with new SD cards. If the problem persists, consult a Canon Service Center.
Process terminated with error
- The SD card compartment cover was opened during the complete initialization of an SD card or an error occurred
during the initialization of an SD card. Initialize the card again. If the SD card still causes an error message, try
replacing the SD card.
Recording was stopped due to insufficient write speed of the memory card
- The write speed of the SD card was too slow so recording was stopped. Replace the SD card with one rated SD
Speed Class 6 or 10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or U3.
- To record 4K clips with a resolution of [3840x2160 (150 Mbps)] and to use slow & fast motion recording, use SD cards
rated UHS Speed Class U3.
- After repeatedly recording, deleting and editing clips (fragmented memory), it will take longer to write data on the SD
card and recording may stop. Save your recordings (A 101) and initialize the card (A 31).
Some clips could not be deleted
- Clips that were protected/edited with other devices and then transferred to an SD card connected to the computer
cannot be deleted with this camcorder.
Task in progress. Do not disconnect the power source.
- The camcorder is updating the SD card. Wait until the operation ends and do not disconnect the AC adapter or
remove the battery pack.
This photo cannot be displayed
- You may not be able to display photos taken with other devices or image files created or edited on a computer and
then transferred to an SD card connected to the computer.
