Configuring the IP Address

Each networking node, within a network, must use a unique IP address. This IP address is used to communicate with
other networking devices in the network. The IP address of the Switch is also important to be able to access the Web
UI of this Switch.
There are two methods in which a Switch can obtain an IP address.
•
From a BOOTP or DHCP server located within the local network.
•
By manually configuring the IP address of the Switch through the CLI or Web UI.
NOTE: By default, the Switch's IP address is 10.90.90.90 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.
To find out what the IP address of the Switch is, we can issue the show ipif command, as shown below.

In the above example, the Switch's IP interface information is displayed. The IP address for this switch is 10.90.90.90
and the subnet mask is 255.0.0.0.
To change the IP address of this Switch, we can issue the config ipif command, as shown below.
DGS-1510-28XMP/ME:admin# config ipif System ipaddress 192.168.69.2/24
Command: config ipif System ipaddress 192.168.69.2/24
Success.
DGS-1510-28XMP/ME:admin#
In this above example, the Switch's System IP address was changed to 192.168.69.2 and the subnet mask to
255.255.255.0. Note that the CIDR notation method was used to configure the subnet mask. Alternatively, the subnet
mask can be typed as per normal if the CIDR notation is unknown. For example, 192.168.69.2/255.255.255.0 would
be interpreted the same as 192.168.69.2/24 by the Switch.
