Troubleshooting chart

There is fuel.
1. Fuel
Check if there is
fuel in the fuel Some fuel.
tank.
No fuel.
2. Compression
Use electric starter
There is compresson.
to see if there is
compression.
No compression.
3. Ignition
Wet
Remove plug and
check electrodes.
Dry
Engine turns
4. Battery
over quickly.
Use electric
starter.
Engine turns
over slowly.
Remove the
Water or dirt
fuel hose from
mixed in fuel.

Turn the fuel
cock to "ON".
Turn the fuel
cock to "OFF".
Turn the fuel
Restart engine.

Supply fuel.
Compression normal.
Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.
Wipe clean with dry
cloth.
Attach plug cap and Use electric
ground to chassis. starter.
Battery good.
Check fluid, recharge,
check connections.

and the fuel tank.
Check fuel flow. No fuel.
Spark good. Ignition system normal.
Spark weak.
Adjust plug gap or
No spark.
replace plug.
Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.
Fuel cock clogged.
