Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series for Enterprise Deployments
® ®
Each Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis model has a different number of available
card slots and can accommodate a variety of line-card and supervisor engine options. For
example, customers can choose 48-port 10/100, 10/100/1000, and Power over Ethernet
(PoE) line cards that can be added to the chassis as needed to customize an access,
distribution, or commercial core platform. PoE capability ships standard on all copper
based Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series line-cards. These line-cards can be used in a data-
only environment while providing the investment protection to enable PoE in the future.
The classic Cisco Catalyst 4500 line cards (6 Gbps per slot) can be used in any of the
Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis. When used with the Cisco Catalyst 4500
Supervisor 6-E, Classic and E-Series line cards (24 Gbps per slot) may be mixed and
matched within a Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis without any performance effects.
