Important!
• After you finish printing when using manual feed, be sure to always press FUNC and
then FEED to feed the tape before cutting it. If you don't, you will cut off part of the printed
text.
• 6mm tape indicator
This indicator appears when you use the procedure described under "To specify the tape
width" to specify 6 millimeter wide tape. Another tape size is specified when this indicator is
not on the display.
• Format imager
This graphic shows how many lines of text are in the format. The thickness of each line also
gives you some idea of the relative size of the characters in each line.
If the format you are using has more than one line, the line in the format imager that corre-
sponds to the current cursor location flashes on the display.
• Cursor
The cursor shows the next input position. Any character you input appears at the point
where the cursor is located.
• Character size indicator
These values shows the height and width measurements of the characters.
• Tape length
The value shows how long the tape will be when you print it. You can select inches or
centimeters for this value.
• Character position marks
These marks show where characters will appear as you input them. This part of the display
is always blank when you switch power on.

Basic Alpha-Numeric Input

The following operation shows you the basic procedures for inputting letters and numbers.
We will explain the procedure by inputting the following characters onto the default initial
power-on screen.

• If you hold down any key, it will repeat its operation or input at high speed until you
release it.

To input alpha-numeric characters

1. Switch power on.
2. Input the first line of characters.
