Print Quality is Poor or Contains Errors

Problem

Check that the ink tanks are firmly seated in the Print Head and reseat them if
necessary.
Check that the correct ink tanks are installed and that they are in the correct
order.
Check to see if all the orange tape has been peeled off as shown in (1). If there
remains a part of the orange tape as shown in (2), remove it thoroughly.
If ink tank is empty, replace the ink tank. See
42.

Print the nozzle check pattern to check for uneven ink output.

Check the print side of the paper.
Follow the instructions packaged with your specialty media for
loading and handling.
On the M M ain tab of the printer driver, confirm that the M M edia Type selected
matches the paper loaded.
In the Print dialog box of the printer driver, select Q Q uality & Media from the
pop-up menu, and then confirm that the M M edia Type selected matches the
paper loaded.
Select O O ther Photo Paper from M M edia Type. It may resolve the problem. Load
one sheet at a time and remove each sheet as soon as it is printed.
Be sure to set the P P rint Quality setting to H H igh in Windows, or F F ine in
Macintosh.
1. Open the P P rinter Properties dialog box.
2. On the M M ain tab, click H H igh for the P P rint Quality setting.
When you cannot choose the H H igh setting or when the print quality does
not improve, select C C ustom, click S S et and then adjust the Q Q uality bar for
higher print quality.
1. Open the P P rint dialog box.
2. Select Q Q uality & Media from the pop-up menu and then click D D etailed
Setting.
3. Drag the P P rint Quality slide bar to the F F ine end.
