Troubleshooting

Error messages

As with any sophisticated office product, errors may occur. If this
happens, your DCP identifies the problem and displays an error
message. The most common error messages are shown below.

The drum unit is near the end of its life.
Change Drum
Soon
The drum counter was not reset.
The documents were not inserted or fed
Check
properly, or document scanned from ADF
Original
was longer than about 90cm.
The DCP is out of paper or paper is not

properly loaded in the paper tray.
Check Paper #1
—OR—
Check Paper #2
The paper is jammed in the DCP.
Paper in the MP tray runs out.
Check Paper MP
When you see this error, the paper in the paper
Check Paper
tray does not match the paper size you set in
Size
Menu, 1, 2.
The scanner lock is locked.
Check Scan
Lock

TROUBLESHOOTING AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 7 - 1

ACTION
Use the drum unit until you have a
print quality problem; then replace
the drum unit with a new one.
1. Open the front cover, and then
Clear/Back
press
.
2. Press 1 to reset.
See Document jams on page 7-4.
Refill the paper in the paper tray or
MP tray.
—OR—
Remove the paper and load it again.
See Paper jams on page 7-5 and
Paper is jammed in the duplex tray
(For DCP-8045D) on page 7-9.
Reload paper. (See To load paper or
other media in the multi-purpose
tray (MP tray) (For DCP-8045D) on
page 2-9.)
Load the appropriate size paper or
change the default setting.
(See Setting the Paper Type on
page 4-1).
Release the scanner lock lever, and
then press Stop/Exit.
