PRECAUTIONS
To maintain good performance
Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid. In particular,
do not keep the unit:
• in a high humidity area such as a bathroom
• near a heater
• in an area exposed to direct sunlight (e.g., inside a parked car, where there could be
a considerable rise in temperature).
Note on listening with the headphones
• Listen at a moderate volume to avoid hearing damage.
• Do not wear the headphones while driving or cycling. It may create a traffic hazard.
• You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous
situations, such as walking, jogging, etc.
• Wear them properly; L is left, R is right.
• When using the in-ear type headphones, wear them with the longer cord behind your
neck.
CAUTION
Listening to headphone stereo at full power for extended periods of time can result in
hearing damage.
Note on cassette tapes
• Take up any slack in the tape with a pencil or a similar tool before use. Slack tape may
break or jam in the mechanism. → A
• C-100 or longer tapes are extremely thin and easily deformed or damaged. They are
not recommended for use in this unit.

Insert two R6 (size AA) dry cell batteries with the 0 and 9 marks correctly aligned.

Battery replacement
The battery indicator in the display window changes from

depending on the remaining power of the dry cell batteries. Replace the batteries when
the battery indicator becomes
and starts flashing, tape speed slows down, volume
decreases, or sound becomes distorted.
To maintain preset data
When replacing the batteries, the unit will retain the preset station frequencies for about
1 minute. To prevent the erasure of the memories, replace the batteries within 1 minute.
Note on dry cell batteries
• Make sure that the 0 and 9 marks are correctly aligned.
• Do not mix different types of batteries, or an old battery with a new one.
• Never recharge the batteries, apply heat to them or take them apart.
• When not using the batteries, remove them to prevent needless wear.
• If liquid leaks from the batteries, wipe thoroughly to remove.
HOLD SWITCH → E
The HOLD switch deactivates the buttons on the front cabinet a.
Before use, release the HOLD switch. → b
When not using the unit, set the HOLD switch to the hold position. → c
Accidentally pressed buttons will not function.
PLAYBACK → F
• Use only Type I (normal) tapes.
• Connect the supplied headphones to the \ jack.
1 Release the HOLD switch.
2 Open the cassette holder and insert a cassette.

3 Press the RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE button repeatedly until the power is
turned off.
4 Press the dPLAY button to start playback.
“TAPE” is displayed on the window.
5 Adjust the volume.
Basic operation
Press the following buttons.
g on the front side.
To fast forward
f on the reverse side.
To rewind
f on the front side.
g on the reverse side.
To stop
s STOP
• Thef and g buttons are not released at the end of the tape. Press the sSTOP
button to release them.
• To prevent tape damage, press the sSTOP button first before changing to radio mode.
To change the playback side
Set the REV/FWD switch.
FWD : To play back front side.
REV : To play back reverse side.
Super bass
Press the S-BASS button to emphasize the low frequencies.
appears in the display. Press the button again to resume the normal sound.
disappears from the display.
Reverse mode
: Both sides are played back repeatedly.
: Both sides are played back once.
Playback stops at the end of the reverse side. When you change the playback
side during reverse side playback, the tape will stop.
To backlight the display
Press the LIGHT button. The backlight of the display turns on for about 5 seconds.
Note
When the battery power is low, the backlight may not be bright.
RADIO RECEPTION → G
1 Release the HOLD switch.
2 Press the RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE button repeatedly to select AM, FM1 or
FM2.
FM 1 and FM 2 have the same frequency range and both can be used to tune in to an
FM station.
If
is displayed in the display, keep the RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE button
pressed for about 2 seconds until
disappears.
3 Press the UP or DOWN button to tune in to a station.
4 Adjust the volume.
After listening, press the RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE button repeatedly to turn off
the radio.
For quick tuning
Keep either the UP or DOWN button pressed, then the frequency in the display changes
rapidly. When the button is released, the frequency changes with a slower speed. When
the scanning starts with the backlight on, the backlight is kept turned on while the stations
are scanned. If a station is tuned in to,
appears, but the frequency does not stop.
To stop tuning, press either UP or DOWN button.
Note
may appear also when the unit receives the external noise.
Super bass
Press the S-BASS button to emphasize the low frequencies.

FM: The headphone cord functions as the antenna. Keep it extended.
AM: Turn the unit to find the position that gives best reception.
About the FM stereo broadcast
The FM broadcast is received in stereo.
However, the sound may be heard in monaural when the FM stereo signal is weak.
To backlight the display
Press the LIGHT button. The backlight of the display turns on for about 5 seconds.
Note
When the battery power is low, the backlight may not be bright.

Hinweise zur Wiedergabe über Kopfhörer
• Stellen Sie eine gemäßigte Lautstärke ein, um Hörschäden zu vermeiden.
• Tragen Sie keine Kopfhörer, wenn Sie ein Auto, ein Fahrrad oder ein anderes Fahrzeug
lenken. Dies stellt eine Gefahrenquelle im Verkehr dar.
• In potentiell gefährlichen Situationen, z. B. beim Wandern oder Joggen, sollten Sie
äußerst vorsichtig sein bzw. das Gerät möglichst ausschalten.
• Setzen Sie die Hörer richtig auf: L ist links, R ist rechts.
• Bei den Kopfhörern müssen Sie das längere Kabel hinten um den Nacken legen.
VORSICHT
Ständige Wiedergabe mit voller Lautstärke über die Stereo-Kopfhörer kann zu
Gehörschäden führen.
Hinweise zu Kassetten
• Spannen Sie das Band vor dem Abspielen mit einem Bleistift o. ä. Ein loses Band kann
reißen oder sich im Abspielmechanismus verfangen. → A
• Bänder in C-100- oder längeren Kassetten sind extrem dünn und lassen sich leicht
verformen oder beschädigen. Es empfiehlt sich nicht, solche Bänder mit diesem Gerät
zu verwenden.

Zwei R6 (AA) Trockenbatterien mit richtiger Ausrichtung der 0 und 9 Markierungen
einlegen.
Wenn sich der Batteriefachdeckel löst → D
Batterieaustausch
Je nach der restlichen Kapazität der Trockenzellen wechselt die Batterieanzeige auf
dem Display von

. Die Batterien austauschen, wenn das
an der Batterieanzeige zu blinken beginnt; andernfalls droht reduzierte
Bandgeschwindigkeit oder Lautstärke bzw. verzerrte Klangwiedergabe.
Zur Beibehaltung von Festsenderdaten
Nach dem Herausnehmen der Batterien bleiben die Fetsenderfrequenzen ca. 1 Minute
lang erhalten. Um ein Löschen des Festsenderspeichers zu vermeiden, unbedingt die
Batterien innerhalb 1 Minute austauschen.
Hinweise zu Trockenbatterien
• Achten Sie darauf, die Batterien polaritätsrichtig einzulegen. Achten Sie dabei auf die
Symbole 0 und 9.
• Verwenden Sie keine unterschiedlichen Typen von Batterien zusammen und keine
alte zusammen mit einer neuen Batterie.
• Versuchen Sie nie, die Batterien aufzuladen oder zu zerlegen, und halten Sie sie von
Hitze fern.
• Wenn Sie die Batterien nicht verwenden, nehmen Sie sie heraus, damit sie nicht unnötig
entladen werden.
• Wenn eine Batterie ausläuft, wischen Sie die Flüssigkeit gründlich weg.
SPERRSCHALTER → E
Der HOLD-Schalter sperrt die Bedienteile an der Frontplatte a.
Zur Bedienung geben Sie den HOLD-Schalter frei. → b
Bei Nichtbedienung setzen Sie den HOLD-Schalter zurück in seine
Verriegelungsstellung. → c
Auf diese Weise verhindern Sie eine versehentliche Bedienung.
WIEDERGABE → F
• Verwenden Sie ausschließlich Normalband (Typ I).
• Verbinden Sie die mitgelieferten Kopfhörer mit die Buchse \.
1 Geben Sie den HOLD-Schalter frei.
2 Öffnen Sie das Cassettenfach und legen Sie eine Cassette ein.

3 Drücken Sie Taste RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE so oft, bis die Stromversorgung
ausgeschaltet wird.
4 Starten Sie die Wiedergabe mit der Taste dPLAY.
„TAPE“ wird angezeigt.
5 Stellen Sie die Lautstärke ein.
Grundfunktionen
Folgende Tasten stehen dazu zur Verfügung.
Vorwärtsspulen
g auf der Vorderseite.
f auf der Rückseite.
Zurückspulen
f auf der Vorderseite.
g auf der Rückseite.
Stoppen
s STOP
• Die Tasten f und g springen am Bandende nicht in ihre Ausgangsposition zurück.
Drücken Sie dazu die Taste sSTOP.
• Damit das Band nicht beschädigt wird, drücken Sie zuerst die Taste sSTOP, bevor
Sie in den Radiomodus wechseln.
So wechseln Sie die Wiedergabeseite
Stellen Sie den Schalter REV/FWD ein.
FWD : Zum Wiedergeben der Vorderseite.
REV : Zum Wiedergeben der Rückseite
Superbaß
Drücken Sie Taste S-BASS, um die tiefen Frequenzen zu betonen.
Daraufhin erscheint
auf dem Display. Um auf normale Wiedergabe
zurückzuschalten, drücken Sie diese Taste erneut.
verschwindet vom Display.
Reverse-Modus
: Beide Seiten werden wiederholt wiedergegeben.
: Beide Seiten werden einmal wiedergegeben.
Die Wiedergabe stoppt am Ende der Kassettenrückseite. Wenn Sie die
Wiedergabeseite während der Wiedergabe der Rückseite wechseln, stoppt das
Band.
Zur Hintergrundbeleuchtung des Displays
Drücken Sie die LIGHT-Taste. Die Hintergrundbeleuchtung des Displays bleibt daraufhin
ca. 5 Sekunden lang eingeschaltet.
Hinweis
Bei schwachen Batterien erreicht die Hintergrundbeleuchtung nicht ihre volle Helligkeit.
RADIOEMPFANG → G
1 Geben Sie den HOLD-Schalter frei.
2 Drücken Sie Taste RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE entsprechend oft zur Wahl von
AM, FM1 oder FM2.
FM1 und FM2 bezeichnen den UKW-Bereich und können beide zur Einstellung von
UKW-Sendern dienen.
Ist
im Display angezeigt, halten Sie die Taste RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE
ca. 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt, bis
verschwindet.
3 Stellen Sie mit der Taste UP oder DOWN einen Sender ein.
4 Stellen Sie die Lautstärke ein.
Nach der Radiohörung, schalten Sie das Radio durch entsprechend häufiges Drücken
der Taste RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE aus.
Schnelle Sendereinstellung
Halten Sie entweder Taste UP oder DOWN gedrückt, so daß die Frequenz auf dem
Display rasch vorwärts oder rückwärts gezählt wird. Beim Loslassen der Taste wechselt
die Frequenzanzeige langsamer. Wenn der Sendersuchlauf bei eingeschalteter
Hintergrundbeleuchtung startet, bleibt die Beleuchtung während der Sendersuche
eingeschaltet. Ist ein Sender eingestellt, so erscheint zur Bestätigung die Anzeige
.
Allerdings wird der Sendersuchlauf fortgesetzt. Zu diesem Zweck müssen Sie erneut
entweder UP oder DOWN drücken.
Hinweis
kann u.U. auch bei Empfang von Störsignalen erscheinen.
Superbaß
Drücken Sie Taste S-BASS, um die tiefen Frequenzen zu betonen.
Daraufhin erscheint
auf dem Display. Um auf normale Wiedergabe
zurückzuschalten, drücken Sie diese Taste erneut.
verschwindet vom Display.
Ist
auf dem Display angezeigt, so halten Sie Taste RADIO ON/OFF/BAND
MODE ca. 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt, bis

So verbessern Sie den Empfang → H
FM (UKW): Das Kopfhörerkabel fungiert als UKW-Antenne. Lassen Sie das Kabel
langgezogen.
AM:
Drehen Sie das Gerät, bis Sie die Position mit dem besten Empfang gefunden
haben.
Hinweis zu UKW-Stereoempfang
UKW-Sendungen werden in Stereo empfangen.
Allerdings läßt sich bei schwachen Einfallssignal auf Monobetrieb umschalten.
Zur Hintergrundbeleuchtung des Displays
Drücken Sie die LIGHT-Taste. Die Hintergrundbeleuchtung des Displays bleibt daraufhin
ca. 5 Sekunden lang eingeschaltet.
Hinweis
Bei schwachen Batterien erreicht die Hintergrundbeleuchtung nicht ihre volle Helligkeit.

Pour maintenir de bonnes performances
Ne pas utiliser l’unite dans des endroits extrêmement chauds, froids, poussiéreux ou
humides. En particulier, ne pas laisser l’appareil dans un endroit:
• avec une humidité importante comme dans une salle de bain
• près d’un appareil de chauffage
• dans un endroit exposé au rayonnement direct du soleil (par ex., dans l’habitacle
d’une voiture parquée, où la température peut augmenter dans des proportions
considérables).
Remarque concernant l’écoute avec le casque d’écoute
• Ecouter à un volume modéré afin d’éviter de subir un dommage de l’ouïe.
• Ne pas utiliser le casque en conduisant une voiture ou à bicyclette. Cela peut constituer
un danger pour la circulation.
• Il y a lieu d’être particulièrement attentif, voire d’interrompre provisoirement l’utilisation
de l’appareil, dans des situations potentiellement dangereuses (en traversant une rue,
en faisant du jogging, etc).
• Porter le casque d’écoute correctement; “L” sur la gauche, “R” sur la droite.
• Quand vous utilisez les écouteurs, faites passer le cordon le plus long derrière la
nuque.
ATTENTION
A pleine puissance, l’écoute prolongée du baladeur peut endommager l’oreille de
l’utilisateur.
Remarques sur les cassettes
• Eliminer tout mou de la bande avec un crayon ou un objet similaire avant l’utilisation.
Une bande desserrée pourraît se rompre ou s’entortiller dans le mécanisme. → A
• Les bandes C-100 ou plus sont extrêmement fines et elles se déforment ou
s’endommagent facilement. Il est déconseillé de les utiliser dans cet appareil.

Insérez deux piles sèches R6 (format AA) en alignant correctement les marques 0 et
9.

Remplacement des piles
L’indicateur de capacité des piles passe de

restante des piles sèches. Remplacez les piles quand l’indicateur indique

commence à clignoter, quand la vitesse de défilement de la bande ou le volume diminue,
ou quand le son est déformé.
Pour conserver les données préréglées
Au remplacement des piles, l’appareil maintiendra les fréquences des stations préréglées
environ 1 minute. Remplacez les piles en moins d’une minute pour éviter leur effacement.
Remarques sur les piles sèches
• Vérifier que les repères 0 et 9 sont correctement alignés.
• Ne pas mélanger différents types de piles, ou une pile usée avec une neuve.
• Ne jamais recharger les piles, ne pas les chauffer et ne pas essayer de les ouvrir.
• Quand les piles ne sont pas utilisées, les sortir pour éviter de les user inutilement.
• Si du liquide fuit des piles, nettoyer convenablement.

LECTURE → F
• Utilisez uniquement des cassette de type I (normal).
• Raccordez les écouteurs fournis à la prise \.
1 Relâchez le commutateur HOLD.
2 Ouvrez le logement de la cassette et insérez une cassette.

3 Appuyez plusieurs fois sur la touche RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE jusqu’à la
mise hors tension.
4 Appuyer sur la touche dPLAY pour lancer la lecture.
L’indication “TAPE” apparaît dans la fenêtre d’affichage.
5 Ajustez le volume.
Opérations de base
Appuyer sur les touches suivantes.
Pour avancer rapidement g sur la face avant.
f sur la face inverse.
Pour rebobiner

Pour arrêter

• Les touches f et g ne sont pas désactivées à la fin de la cassette. Appuyez sur
la touche sSTOP pour les désactiver.
• Pour éviter d’endommager la bande magnétique, appuyez d’abord sur la touche
sSTOP avant de passer au mode de radio.
Pour inverser le sens de lecture
Appuyer sur le commutateur REV/FWD.
FWD : Pour une lecture de la face avant.
REV : Pour une lecture de la face inverse.
Super graves
Appuyez sur la touche S-BASS pour accentuer les basses fréquences.

Mode d’inversion

Pour le rétro-éclairage de l’affichage
Appuyez sur la touche LIGHT. Le rétro-éclairage de l’affichage s’activera environ 5
secondes.
Remarque
Quand les piles sont affaiblies, le rétro-éclairage peut ne pas être lumineux.
RECEPTION RADIO → G
1 Relâchez le commutateur HOLD.
2 Appuyez plusieurs fois sur la touche RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE pour
sélectionner AM, FM1 ou FM2.
FM1 et FM2 ont la même gamme de fréquences et peuvent tous deux être utilisés
pour accorder une station FM.
Si
est affiché, maintenez la touche RADIO ON/OFF/BAND MODE pressé
environ 2 secondes jusqu’à ce que

3 Appuyez sur la touche UP ou DOWN pour syntoniser une station.
4 Ajustez le volume.

Accord rapide
Maintenez la touche UP ou DOWN pressée pour faire changer rapidement la fréquence
affichée. Au relâchement de la touche, la fréquence change plus lentement. Quand le
balayage commence avec le rétro-éclairage allumé, le rétro-éclairage est maintenu allumé
pendant le balayage des stations. Si une station est accordée,
s’affiche, mais la
fréquence ne s’arrête pas de changer. Pour arrêter l’accord, appuyez sur UP ou DOWN.
Remarque
peut aussi apparaître quand l’appareil reçoit du bruit extérieur.
Super graves
Appuyez sur la touche S-BASS pour accentuer les basses fréquences.

La diffusion FM est reçue en stéréo.
Mais le son peut être entendu en monaural quand le signal FM stéréo est faible.
Pour le rétro-éclairage de l’affichage
Appuyez sur la touche LIGHT. Le rétro-éclairage de l’affichage s’activera environ 5
secondes.
Remarque
Quand les piles sont affaiblies, le rétro-éclairage peut ne pas être lumineux.
