9 Laying the Cables

To comply with the required EMC values, the IF-57xx master terminal requires
functional grounding, which is established via the PoE device and the patch cable. If an external power
supply is being used, functional grounding is connected to PE on the 3-pin terminal strip. Check if there is
functional grounding on the PoE device. Ground PoE devices without functional grounding via existing
soldering lugs or screw terminals.

9.1 Electrical Connections

For secure, reliable operation in compliance with EMC values, the following must be observed:
§
The specified cable lengths. The specifications indicate the permitted cable lengths that guarantee
reliable system function.
§
The cable type.
Only install data and control cables with cable shielding, e.g. cable type JY(ST)Y with anti-static shield.
§
Electrical installation standards.
The device may only be operated via electrical systems that comply with current national standards.

9.2 Power Supply

Power can be supplied to the device in two ways:
§
by an external power supply unit
§
by PoE (RJ45)
