Power Supply & Connections
The impact of temperature rise caused by voltage
and frequency fluctuations is defined in IEC 60034-1.
The standard divides the combinations into two
operating zones, A and B.
Zone A is the combination of voltage deviation of
Zone A
±5% and frequency deviation of ±2%. This range is
Zone B
the maximum variation in which the motor will be
able to operate continuously.
Zone B is the combination of voltage deviation of
±10% and frequency deviation of +3/-5%.
This range is the maximum variation at which the
motor will be able to perform its basic function.
Temperature rises and deviations from the rated
voltage and frequency specifications may be higher
at the rated voltage and frequency.
Motors are capable of delivering the rated torque in
both zones A and B.
Extended operation in zone B is not
recommended.
Dual voltage and single voltage motors can be
connected for the desired voltage by following the
connection diagram shown on the inside of the
main conduit box cover. Alternate starting

CAUTION
Disconnect power before working on the motor or any motor-driven equipment.
This motor is equipped with an automatic temperature-limiting device. The
national electrical code and underwriter's laboratories require the connection of
the TP1 and TP2 leads into the control circuit of a manual reset starter.
Power Supply and Connections
EQP Global IEC Series Low-Voltage 50/60 Hz Metric Motor
connections are also shown in the conduit box of
the motor and in
EQP Global IEC Series Metric motors 160 frame
and above are supplied with temperature limiting
devices in the motor enclosure to protect the motor
from overheating. The terminals of the thermal
protectors should be connected to the motor control
equipment. These are U
a positive temperature coefficient (2.5 – 7.5 VDC
Switching/ 150° C [302° F]) that are used for
thermal protection.
Installation and connection of the supply side and
control conductors is the responsibility of qualified
personnel and should be installed to meet or
exceed local building codes and the National
Electrical Code.
An optional external grounding terminal on the feet
of the motor is for a supplemental bonding
connection where local codes permit or require
such a connection.
Lock-out/tag-out and disconnect the motor from the
power supply before opening the conduit box or
performing any maintenance or repair on the motor.
Using a megohmmeter, test the insulation
resistance of the motor before energizing. A
minimum of 10 megohms is recommended.
