Hostname Your system must have a unique system name (a "hostname"), which can
be a simple name (such as cleo).
A system name must fulfill the following conditions:
• It must contain no more than 8 characters
• It must contain only letters, numbers, underscore (_), or hyphen (-).
• It must start with a letter.
• Upper case letters are not recommended.
• The first component of a host name should contain no more than eight
characters, for compatibility with the uname command.
