This section contains important information about fault identification and rectifica-
tion. Follow the instructions to avoid hazards and damage.

Fault causes and remedies

The following table will help you to identify and rectify minor malfunctions. If the
solutions presented below do not resolve the problem, please contact Customer
Service (see section "Service").
Fault
There is nothing on
the display
.
No sound.
Interference with the
radio reception.
The CD is not
played.
The time and station
presets are lost after
a power failure.
SCUR 3 A1
Possible cause
The mains cable
is not
plugged in.
The power socket is not
supplying power.
The volume is set to mini-
mum.
The device is in standby
mode.
The reception is weak.
It is an incompatible CD-R
or CD-RW.
The CD is the wrong way
up in the CD compartment
.
No batteries in the battery
compartment
or batter-
ies are dead.
The batteries are inserted
incorrectly in the battery
compartment
.
Remedy
Insert the plug of the mains cable
in the mains socket.
Check the house fuses.
Turn the −VOL+/ І◄◄ TUNE ►►І
dial
to the right to increase the
volume.
Press the
/SOURCE button
switch on the device.
Try to improve reception by moving
the wire aerial
.
Use the ■ ST/MONO button
switch to mono playback.
Swap the CD for another (audio)
CD.
Place the CD, with the printed side
facing up, into the CD compartment
.
Check that the batteries are suffi-
ciently charged and replace them if
necessary.
Check whether the batteries are
inserted the right way round in the
battery compartment
