6.1 Assembling the components
Some parts of the mower come disassembled. For
quick and easy assembly, read and follow the
instructions below.
Important. You will need the following additional
tools (not supplied) for assembly, and also for
maintenance work:

n

n
A petrol can
n
A funnel (suitable for the tank's petrol filler neck)
n

n
dispose of these at a filling station)

Assembly
1. Fasten the push handle (Fig. 3a / Item 3b) with
one screw (Fig. 3a / Item 18) and one nut (Fig. 3a
/ Item 19) each on either side, making sure that
the cable pulls to be installed later on are not in
the way.
2. Unfold the push bar and fix it into place by
tightening the star screws as shown in Figure 3b.
3. Insert the grip of the starter cord (Fig. 3c/Item 7)
into the hook provided for that purpose as shown
in Figure 3c.
4. Fasten the cords to the push bar with the supplied
cable clips (Fig. 3d/Item 8).
5. To assemble the side discharge adapters, first
move them in position (Fig. 4a) and then tighten
the preassembled as shown in Fig. 4b. For
disassembly, please proceed in reverse order.
6.2 Setting the cutting height
Important. Adjust the cutting height only when
the engine is switched off and the plug boot has
been pulled.
Before you begin to mow, check to ensure that
n
the blade is not blunt and that none of the
fasteners are damaged. To prevent any
imbalance, replace blunt and/or damaged blades
as a set only (if applicable). To carry out this
check, first switch off the engine and pull the
spark plug boot.
NB: For easier replacement of the wheels opposite
the side discharge adapter please remove the wheels
as specified under 6.1.5.
The cutting height is not adjusted at a single
n
central point – instead, each of the 4 wheels
have to be adjusted separately. Three different
cutting heights are available.
Caution: All 4 wheels have to be set to the same
cutting height.
1. Lever out the wheel cap from the wheel by
applying a screwdriver in the opening provided
(Fig. 7a)
2. Open the wheel bolt (Fig. 7b).
Important: There is a metal washer (Item 14)
between the wheel and the mower housing.
Make sure that you fit this washer back in place
between the wheel and the housing during
reassembly.
We recommend that you first change both
wheels on one side followed by both wheels on
the other side.
3. Remove the wheel and screw it back on tightly in
the desired position (Fig. 7c)
Position 1: Low cutting height
Position 2: Medium cutting height
Position 3: High cutting height
4. Fit the wheel cap back on again and follow the
same procedures to adjust the other 3 wheels to
the same height and position.
7. Using the petrol lawn mower
Important.
The engine is supplied without oil and petrol.
Therefore, be sure to add oil and petrol before
starting the engine.
In order to avoid any unintentional start-ups of the
lawn mower, it comes equipped with an engine brake
(Fig. 5a/Item 1) which must be pulled back before the
engine can be started. When the engine start/stop
lever is released it must return to its initial position, at
which point the engine automatically switches off.
Move the speed lever (Fig. 6) to position
start/stop lever (Fig. 5b) and vigorously pull on the
starter cable. Move the throttle lever into the "Hare"
position.
Before you start mowing, you should run through this
process several times in order to ensure that the
machine is working properly. Whenever you need to
perform any kind of adjustment and/or repair work on
your lawn mower, wait until the blade has come to a
complete stop. Always switch off the engine before
carrying out any adjustments, maintenance or repairs.
