4.2.4.2 Ground the Cisco 6160 from the Power Terminal Block Connector
Warning
When you are installing or replacing the Cisco 6160 chassis, the ground connection must always be
made first and disconnected last.
To ensure adequate earth ground for the system, complete the following steps to attach the grounding
wire to the power terminal block connector on the Cisco 6160 backplane:
Verify that power in the DC circuit is off.
Step 1
Measure enough wire to connect the Cisco 6160 to the grounding point at your site or to the rack.
Step 2
Note
Use a wire stripper to remove the casing from both ends of the grounding wire.
Step 3
Identify the correct power terminal block on the backplane of the Cisco 6160. The PWR 1 connector is

used if you have a primary power entry module (PEM) installed in the chassis. The PWR 2 connector is
used if you have a secondary (redundant) PEM installed in the chassis.
