7.4.2 VPN link setup description
Before creating the VPN connection, the user must create a VPN profile according to the VPN tunnel
parameters defined in its VPN Gateway. The VPN connection is established by using the OXO
Connectivity application (in the Connectivity menu, click the Start VPN button).
After the tunnel establishment, the OXO VPN IP address is returned to the OXO Connectivity
application.
If after its establishment, the tunnel is cut, it is never automatically re-established. A new VPN
connection request must be sent.
When VPN establishment is not successful, an error code is returned to the OXO Connectivity
application.
Only one VPN tunnel is allowed on the OXO Connect, but several users (ten, at the most) can use it.
The first VPN connection request creates the VPN tunnel and the first connection. The next ones only
create new connections, linked to the VPN tunnel, and the returned information is the same OXO VPN
IP address.
7.4.2.1 VPN closing
7.4.2.1.1 Automatic closing for inactivity
The VPN is automatically closed after a timeout in case of inactivity. The inactivity timeout can be
configured in the VPN parameters given at VPN connection request. Its value must be in the range [5
minutes, 1 hour]. If it is lower than 5 minutes, it is set to 5 minutes. If it is higher than 1 hour, it is set to
1 hour. The default value is 20 minutes.
When a VPN is closed for inactivity, the information is not transmitted to the CCI. But this situation is
detected by the OXO Connect with a supervision mechanism and a historic event (unexpected close) is
generated.
7.4.2.1.2 Dead peer detection
When a VPN is up, dead peer detection is activated in the OXO Connect. Messages are sent
periodically in order to check the liveliness of the peer. The period interval is 30 seconds. The timeout
after which a VPN is closed in case of no answer from the peer, is 150 seconds.
These values cannot be modified. In case of dead peer detection, the VPN closing generates a historic
event: unexpected close.
7.4.2.1.3 VPN connection closing
The VPN connection can be closed explicitly via the OXO Connectivity application (in the Connectivity
menu, click the Stop VPN button) or by quitting the OXO Connectivity application.
7.5 Rainbow
7.5.1 Rainbow overview
Rainbow is a cloud based software system providing services to end users, such as remote call control
and rich telephony presence.
Services provided to end users are either fully managed by the Rainbow infrastructure, or linked to the
OXO Connect, such as telephony presence (mixed with IM and video presence in Rainbow) or basic
telephony features (make call, transfer, or three-party conference).
The Cloud Connect Control Agent component (CCCtrlA), embedded on the OXO Connect, allows to
establish a secure connection with the Rainbow infrastructure, using WebSocket Secure (WSS). On
