Setting Mower Deck Height

Cutting Height

1. Park and prepare machine for service. See "Prepare
Equipment for Service" on page 1-13.

2. Push and hold down on deck lift pedal (1) and
remove deck height pin (2).
3. Install deck height pin in the appropriate cutting
height location.
4. Release deck lift pedal.

Transportation Height

1. Park and prepare machine for service. See "Prepare
Equipment for Service" on page 1-13.

2. Push and hold down on deck lift pedal (1) and
remove deck height pin (2).
3. Push transport handle (3) forward.
4. Install deck height pin in the appropriate location for
transportation.
5. Release deck lift pedal.

Adjusting Lift Assist Spring

1. Park and prepare machine for service. See "Prepare
Equipment for Service" on page 1-13.

2. Raise deck to release tension on the lift assist spring
(1).
3. Adjust lift assist spring as needed.
4. To relieve lift assist spring tension, turn nut (2)
counterclockwise and nut (3) clockwise.
5. To increase lift assist spring tension, turn nut (3)
counterclockwise and nut (2) clockwise.
6. Repeat steps 2–6 until appropriate tension is
reached.
Check Power Take-Off (PTO) Air
Gap
It is not recommended to adjust the power take-off (PTO)
air gap. If there is excessive slip when engaging the PTO
clutch, or if the PTO clutch does not stay engaged,
replace as necessary.
