Does mower deck start
and then stop?
Is mower deck belt in
good operating
condition?
Is the park brake switch
working correctly?
Is the seat switch
working correctly?
Is the PTO switch
operating correctly?

Is the PTO clutch
operating correctly?

Do mower pulleys and
mandrels bind?
Is power take-off (PTO)
clutch tight on engine
crankshaft and is the
key present without
any damage?
Results
YES: Lower engine
RPM and listen for
troubled area.
Repair or replace
parts as
necessary.

NO: Replace mower
deck belt as
