Oxygenated fuel
Oxygenated fuel is gasoline that is mixed with alcohol or
an ether compound. Some areas use oxygenated fuel to
decrease emissions. The fuel must not contain more
than the given percentages of these oxygenates:
Ethanol: 27% by volume.
MTBE: 15% by volume.
Methanol: 5% by volume.
CAUTION: Fuel that contains methanol must
also contain cosolvents and corrosion
inhibitors as protection for the fuel system.
CAUTION: Oxygenated fuel that contains
more than the given percentages of these
oxygenates voids the warranty. The engine
performance can decrease and the engine
can become damaged.
