This unit is equipped with an internal combustion engine and should not be used on or near any unimproved forest-
covered, brush-covered or grass-covered land unless the engine's exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting
applicable local or state laws (if any). If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator.
In the State of California the above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code). Other states may have
similar laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands. A spark arrester for the muffler is available through your nearest engine authorized

    NOTE: The safety key must be in the run position to start the mower for both systems, either the self starter or recoil starter. Start Control Button The start control button is located on the upper left side of the handle. See Figure 6. The start control button must be depressed fully while pulling the blade control handle toward upper handle for the engine to start.

Replace when necessary. • When sharpening the blade, follow the original angle of grind as a guide. It is extremely important that each cutting edge receives an equal amount of grinding to prevent an unbalanced blade.

    SECTION 10: OFF-SEASON STORAGE The following steps should be taken to prepare lawn mower for storage. WARNING: Be sure to disconnect the spark plug wire and DE-ENERGIZE starter before performing any repairs or maintenance. DO NOT attempt any maintenance or service to the engine and/or mower equipped with the safety key in the unlocked and/or energized mode.
