Overview

Here are a few helpful guidelines for installing the SonicWALL appliance.
The WAN Ethernet port should be connected to the Internet router or modem.
The LAN Ethernet port should be connected to a network hub or switch on the
internal, protected network.
The DMZ Ethernet port, included with the SonicWALL GX250 and GX650, should
be connected to publicly accessible servers, such as Web and Mail servers.
A crossover cable should be used when connecting the SonicWALL directly to an-
other machine or router.
A standard Ethernet cable should be used when connecting the SonicWALL to a
network hub, switch, or modem.
If using the fiber optics network interface card, remove the plug from the network
card to access the network ports on the front of the GX.
Note: During the installation, access to the Internet is interrupted. You can minimize
this interruption by pre-configuring the SonicWALL before you install it.
